Before you send it: back it up if you can.

If the computer still turns on, copy your photos and documents to an external drive or a cloud account before any repair, here or anywhere. Most repairs never touch your files, but a drive that's starting to fail can stop working at any time.

If it won't turn on, don't keep trying. Note what it does (lights, beeps, fans, nothing) and put that in your request.

Older computer feeling slow? Check the drive.

A lot of slow computers are perfectly good machines still running on a spinning hard drive. Swapping in an SSD and cloning your files over is often the cheapest way to make one feel new again.

Microsoft ended regular Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, so before upgrading an older PC it's worth checking that it can run Windows 11.

How it works

Three steps, and the first one takes two minutes.

  1. Send the request. Pick the device and describe the problem. A photo of any error message helps.
  2. We reach out. By call, text or email, whichever you chose. We ask a few questions and talk through options.
  3. Plan the repair. You hear what's likely wrong and whether it's worth fixing before any work starts.

Questions

Before you send a request.

Where is Piedmont PC Repair located?

We're a service-area business covering Rock Hill and the rest of York County, plus Indian Land. There's no storefront, so start with the repair request form and we'll reach out to set things up.

What kinds of computers do you work on?

Windows laptops and desktops, Macs and MacBooks, gaming PCs, and small office setups including Wi-Fi and printers.

Do I need to know what's wrong before I reach out?

No. Describe what the computer is doing in your own words, like 'won't charge unless I wiggle the cord' or 'pop-ups every few minutes.' The make and model help if you know them.

Will my files be safe?

Most repairs don't touch your files at all. Anything that does, like a reinstall or a drive swap, starts with a backup. If the computer still turns on, back up anything important before any repair, anywhere.

Is my computer worth fixing?

Sometimes it isn't, and you should hear that up front. A battery, SSD or charging port on a decent machine is usually worth doing. A cracked screen on top of a failing board on an old budget laptop often isn't.

Start with the problem, not the jargon.

You don't need to know what part failed. Tell us the make if you know it, what the computer is doing, and when it started. We'll reach out the way you choose and talk through next steps.

Helpful if you have it: a photo of any error message, and the model number (usually on a sticker underneath a laptop or on the back of a desktop).
